How we got here: Rooted in Hard Work, Built on Integrity
Founded in 1978 by Rich Carron—a dairy farmer, Vietnam veteran, and a man who believed in doing things right—Valley Paving was built on grit, integrity, and craftsmanship. His vision was clear: create a company that delivers quality work, earns respect, and takes pride in every mile paved.
Under Rich’s leadership, Valley Paving became a trusted name in the Twin Cities, moving over a million tons of asphalt in peak seasons. But size wasn’t the goal—excellence was. In 1994, that commitment was recognized with the Sheldon G. Hayes Award for work on I-35E in White Bear Lake, making Valley Paving the first company in the five-state area to earn this national honor.
Today, second-generation owner Brent Carron carries forward that same relentless work ethic and forward-thinking mindset. After growing up in the business—spending summers in the field and learning from his father—he took over ownership in 2020, ensuring Valley Paving continues to carry on the same values while pushing the standard in the industry.

What Makes Us Different
Our story isn’t about looking back, it’s about pushing forward. We remain committed to innovation, an open-door policy, and being the “voice of the industry.” As proud supporters of veterans and military personnel, we stand by our core values of integrity, honesty, and hard work.
We’re small enough to know you, big enough to serve you, and always ready to lend a hand—even to our competitors. Because at Valley Paving, our legacy isn’t just in the roads we build, but in the relationships and trust we pave along the way.
